The impact of service and goods offshoring on employment: Firm‐level evidence

We use a newly constructed database of Belgian firms that combines individual transaction-level data on international trade in goods and services with annual financial accounts to produce fresh evidence the impact service offshoring employment other firms’ outcomes for both manufacturing industry sector. Our results show that: (i) has positive growth low- high-educated workers manufacturing, but this effect is substantially reduced when controlling scale effects, (ii) negative among sector (iii) substitutability between domestic non-labour inputs higher than one labour. Grâce à une nouvelle banque données d'entreprises belges associant individuelles par opération ayant trait commerce services, ainsi que rapports financiers annuels, nous apportons nouveaux éléments pour corroborer l'incidence d'autres paramètres entreprises du secteur tertiaire manufacturier. Nos résultats montrent: 1) la délocalisation un effet positif croissance l'emploi, fois main-d'œuvre manufacturière hautement peu qualifiée, mais cet s'amenuise considérablement en tenant compte effets d'échelle, 2) négatif les travailleurs qualifiés 3) l'effet substitution entre apports parasalariaux intérieurs est supérieur celui observé main d'œuvre.
